Fun with Dots nail art

Hello all, I hope you are keeping well while I am away on vacation. =)
You will soon learn that I love 'dotticures' (aka nail art with dots) Its easy and fun and almost anything you do looks good with dots. It takes a little practice sometimes, but once you get the hang of using a dotting tool you will find there are endless amounts of art you can do with just dots. If you dont have a dotting tool there are lots of things around your house that will work well too. A bobby opened up works well. You just pry it open and use one of the rubber ends. You can also use the end of a pen or the rounded end of a small artists brush. In a pinch you can cut a tooth pick in half and use that and also the pointed end of the tooth pick to give you different size dots. Experiment and have fun!
You can see here where some of the dots dragged a little when I applied the top coat.
I was in a hurry and didn't wait long enough.
Yeah= don't do that =)
Plus I had changed my mind about 3x for what colour I wanted to use. Under the green dots are yellow, then purple then finally green. If I had planned better the polish wouldn't have been three feet thick and less likely to drag.

Thanks for looking1

  3. I love this! I have the dotting tool-have yet to break it out-it doesn't fit in the polish bottle so what do you do? Pour some out and dip into it? Can you help me?

  4. Thanks everyone. I love dots. They are so fun. I also find that sometimes when I have done a design with stripes that doesn't look quote right, the addition of dots makes it perfect.
    Jen- yes I just drop a few drops of polish on a plastic dish I have. If you don't want to take a chance on ruining the plate just cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil first. Easy clean up that way :)
    I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Be sure and let me know.

  6. Oh yes! Yoy can totally do it! That's how I started with nail art. Just dots. It's easier to control and you can make all kinds of designs with groups of dots. Teybit and let me know how it goes. I'd love to see it!
