I so rarely get to actually paint my nails any more. Oh sure, I often have one or three painted, and usually not all one colour at the same time. But more often that not, they are naked. Embarrassingly naked. I am used to the casual glances down at my nails when people find out I run a polish company, and even more used to the comments about the randomly selected, non matching swatches I am usually sporting. But, I really miss painting my nails with purpose. For years, you would be hard pressed to find me with out my nails perfectly painted, and typically with some sort of nail art or painting technique (water marbling, stamping, etc) Now that I am human swatch stick, you would be hard pressed to find me with a full manicure at all. When I do find the time to paint all 10 of my fingers, and especially when I manage some nail art, I am infatuated and easily distracted by the beauty and promise myself that I will do it again soon. I love nail art. LOVE it. I love creating it as much as I love seeing the results. Nail art has come full circle in the past two years. What was once an accent, is now a focus. And while I used to be quite proud of my nail art attempts ( you can see a lot of examples if you look in the history of my blog posts) I am quite out of practice, and in complete awe of some of the bloggers out there like
Chalkboard Nails, Robin Moses, Manicurator, Starfish on the Beach, and many others. I get googly eyed for gradients and water marbling, and while I give both a good effort, I have yet to perfect either.
So, two nights ago I decided to give a gradient another go. I dusted off my beloved collection of cremes, and cut up some makeup sponges, and went to town.
Less than perfect.
But, add some glitter and a matte top coat and you know what? I kind of love it!!
So now the only question that remains; Do I paint the other hand as well, or take this off tomorrow and try something different?
Thanks for looking!
