Guest Post Series; with xoxo Jen

Good afternoon lovelies!!! Can you believe that August is half way over?!!? I am still waiting for summer to start here. It's been a crazy year here at the Girly Bits Headquarters and I just don't know where the time goes, but as they say; time flies when you're having fun!!

Today I am happy to share with you a guest post by Jen, of xoxoJen, showing a gorgeous collection of blue polishes, which is one of my favourite shades by the way. Never too much bloooooooo!

Jen's blog always has a wide array of swatches from many different indie brands, and she also has a LIST on her blog that she regularly updates with links to the zillion different indie shops.

Anyhoo... on with the pretty!! Thank you so much Jen!! xoxo ( see what I did there? hehe)

Hi there! I'm excited to be Pam's guest today and I was honored when she invited me to share some of my swatches! If xoxo, Jen is new to you then you should know that I enjoy both indie and mainstream polishes. Polish is my passion, and everything I do, I do with love which is why I chose my email signature as my blog name! I also love the color purple, lime green and Giant Pandas! Its my dream to some day get to see a Giant Panda in person. Wouldn't that be awesome? Anywho - let's talk polish, shall we? Spring to Winter or day to night, there is one color that I always reach for but in different shades - and that is blue. It goes with just about everything and has a happy calming effect. Zoya Blu is a barely blue pastel, just like a bright springtime sky. My friend Connie introduced me to this color during our recent meetup and I had to have my own bottle. For the following swatches I wore two coats with topcoat. The formula for this polish is pretty amazing for a pastel blue. Most of the time, a blue like this is streaky and globby/thick. Zoya Blu is none of that - perfectly smooth and easy to work with. Sugar Rush!! Just what we get in the midst of summer with all the goodies like ice cream, popcicles, lemonade and a bluer sky! This Sinful Colors polish is also a favorite of mine for this shade of blue. Its fairly easy to apply (not as awesome as the zoya!), not too streaky but I did need that third coat to even it out just right. This would look great with little clouds painted or stamped on, don't ya think? Most Sinful is a very vibrant blue which is not a sky shade but is absolutely stunning! I don't think there is anything in nature this color but its a great summer polish and would work nicely for fall as well! Most Sinful from the Sinful Shine collection is nothing short of an amazing polish. It glides on all by itself! Minimal clean up and its opaque in one coat, although I'm a little bit of a sperg and did two coats. It doesn't have to be top coated because it shines like crazy, but again - I am a creature of habit so I used a top coat! What would a day full of polish be without the night? One of my favorite dark vampy blues is Illamasqua Phallic. Its a one coater, but I used two. Its a top coat eater which I didn't realize until after I shot the photos and the polish had cured a little longer. Phallic really has depth to it and the tiny shimmers are so pretty, like little stars twinkling. Its got the "glowy middle/dark edge" thing going on too, which I love! Calendar Girls - the newest Girly Bits collection, part 1

Calendar Girls Collection
by Girly Bits

January Morning - Promise Me - Magically Delicious - Hippity Hop

The concept is, that the full collection will have a colour that represents each month of the year. It will be released in 3 sets, with the next set available in April/May, and completing the collection with the last set being released in August/September. July will have two colours- one representing Canada Day ( July 1st) and one representing Independence Day ( July 4th).

 January Morning (January)
A sheer sparkly white, with flashes of pink and blue. Like freshly fallen snow. This one is inspired by my Dad. You can read the story behind this polish by clicking here.
Purchase of this polish comes with a copy of the story/memorial.

One coat of January Morning, over white.

 Promise Me (February)
Holographic and opalescent hex glitter, and pin point holo glitter, floating in a sparkling pink. Soft and feminine. This one is inspired by my oldest daughter, who is a singer. She is releasing her first album of originals soon, and one of the songs is called Promise Me.
Purchase of this polish comes with a copy of this song.

Three coats of Promise me, with no undies.

Magically Delicious (March)
Tiny green holographic glitter, in a clear base, along with gold squares, and gold hex glitter.
Representing the Luck of the Irish, and a Pot of Gold.

One coat of Magically Delicious, over China Glaze Jolly Holly.

 Hippity Hop (April)
Multi coloured pastel and holo glitter, and tiny purple glitter,  in a translucent sparkling  purple base.
It's like little holo Easter eggs.

Two coats of Hippity Hop, over various base colours, and three coats alone (at 3 o'clock)

Due to popular demand, Shift Happens will also be available, but it is not part of the Calendar Girls collection.

Thank you to Jen at The PolishAholic
for allowing me to use her swatch of Shift Happens, above.

All lacquer bases are B3Free, and are hand poured using glitters and pigments.
They are available in full size, 15ml bottles, as well as 5ml mini bottles. (mini bottles are not shown above, and do not have the new custom label, but rather the original label, with just the lacquer name.)
Both sizes come embellished with a Swarovski crystal.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Sinful Happy Ending

Since I am waiting on supplies to arrive, to begin bottling the next Girly Bits collection, I thought I would dig through the vault of swatches I  have. I came across Sinful, Happy Ending. I happen to love this colour. It's a beautiful vibrant green with a gorgeous shimmer.

Then I topped it with OPI It's all Bright with me, which is a very sheer, almost colourless yellow based polish with just a hint of shimmer.

And on top of that, I added China Glaze, Golden Enchantment.

Thanks for looking.
Check back for more swatches, and new Girly Bits collections as well.
Cheers!
♥Pam♥

Wet n Wild Sagreena the teenage witch

Just a quick post for you today. I have told myself I will get to bed on time tonight. *fingers crossed*
I am fighting a sinus thing, and we have plans this weekend so I want to be in tip top shape.

I finally picked up Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenage Witch a few weeks ago, and I am not sure why I waited so long! It's a gorgeous glowy green and who doesn't like that? I am a 'Purple Girl' at heart, but I love green, and I find it is just "Ahhhhhhh" for me. Relaxing and soothing.

On with the show.

Forgive me, but I did this swatch a few weeks ago when I picked it up, and I *think* I did three coats for this one. I have been up to my eyeballs in lacquer base and glitter-which is not entirely a bad thing to be, but it does cause some brain cells to malfunction on occasion. Or that could be the lack of sleep. Either way, this is a gorgeous green, that makes me smile.

Thanks for looking, and thank you all for your continued support in the launch of Girly Bits polishes.

Street Magic

Street Magic is the 6th and final colour in the Girly Bits first collection. It is a gorgeous color shifting polish that changes from gold to bronze to a beautiful emerald green, right before your eyes. Just like magic. It looks best layered over dark colours. These pictures are over black, but you can layer it over other colours for different effects.

This collection is now available for purchase. You can see the info on ordering and pricing by clicking the tab at the top of the page or by clicking here. You can also send me an email at pamsgirlybits@hotmail.com

This is Street Magic's bronze side.

Here it's shifting to the green

And here she is in full on green glory.
Of course pictures don't do it justice.

I hope you love my first collection as much as I do.
I will be creating a tab above with ordering info and pricing soon.

Thanks for looking!

OPI Bright Lights, Big Color

I don't have a huge selection of oranges in my collection (relative to the other colours that is) not for lacking love for the colour but rather, I seem to like it on other people better. There are a few though, that I do really love and this is one of them. This is Bright Lights Big Color from the Summer Brights Collection, 2005.
It's a beautiful juicy orange/pink/coral colour with a golden peachy shimmer to it that makes it more wearable for those are perhaps orange-shy.

Application was easy and smooth.

Thanks for looking!

OPI Espresso Your Style, and Gold Shatter

Good Morning lovely readers! I have been thinking of all of you that may have been affected in one way or another by hurricane Irene. I hope this finds you well and safe and relatively dry. I do not live in a hurricane zone, and we have had really good weather. It's hard to imagine that while skies are blue here, there is an angry storm to the East unleashing her fury on innocent people. I expect we will see the tail end of it here with a few days of rain by the weekend. We are relatively unaffected by most natural disasters in this area, although this year has brought more tornadoes, and hail than I have ever seen in my life, and we have felt two earthquakes as well. By 'feel' I mean I could feel my couch swaying and see my bird feeder swinging. In no way were we ever at risk of any damage here at all. If I had not been sitting still chances are I would not have felt it at all. I really feel for all of you who deal with unsettled Earth on a regular basis.

I swatched OPI Espresso Your Style for a friend of mine, so I decided to show you as well. It is a beautiful rich deep warm brown with a lovely gold shimmer/microglitter. This was three coats, but I admit I was in a bit of a hurry so if I had been more careful I might have been able to get away with two.

Espresso Your Style was originally released in the Kick up Your Heels collection in 2006, which I believe was a black label. Mine is from the re-release and is a green label.

This was taken outside.

I decided to throw my new OPI Gold Shatter over top just for fun.

Gold Shatter is pretty, and I can't wait to try it over other colours. It didn't shatter well here so I will have to experiment with it over completely dry polish vs slightly tacky polish.

Thanks for looking!
