January Morning- Newest addition to the Girly Bits lineup. And a story behind the name

In loving memory of Carl Murtagh.

In January of 2010 my Dad passed away after bravely facing Alzheimer's disease. My immediate family consists of myself and my husband, and our three girls, my brother and his son, and my Mom and Dad. My dad was in a long term care facility after he had a mild heart attack and we were no longer able to care for him at home due to mobility and toileting issues. Between my Mom, my brother and my self, someone was with my Dad every single day for the better part of the day, and when we knew the time had come for him, -it was a Tuesday- we camped out at the LTCF with him 24 hours a day until he passed on the Sunday. The staff was excellent to us, feeding us, and giving us our privacy. I personally took over my Dad's care for that time, and the staff was very respectful of that and even let us take his bed and all our belongings into the common room, with a TV and couches etc and more space so our little family could camp out in relative comfort. On Saturday morning, as the sun rose, we opened the curtains in the huge bay window and let the sun wash over him. It seemed to breathe some life and energy into him, as that day was the best day he had had in a while. He was more responsive, and comfortable than we had seen him in weeks. My brother took a gorgeous photo of that sunrise, which we later used on Dad's memorial card, as it was the last sunrise he saw.  He passed at almost 4 am Sunday, and we left for home at 7 am. When we stepped outside, we realized it had been snowing all night, and on the drive home everything was completely covered in the MOST beautiful crystallized snow I  have EVER seen. Every tree branch, telephone wire and fence post was just gleaming with these diamonds. When we arrived home,  I touched the porch railing expecting it to be hard and frozen since it looked like diamonds. It was so soft and melted immediately. I will never forget it, it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I had never seen anything like that, nor have I seen it again. My 18 year old daughter came up with the idea for the colour, asking me to make a polish that looked as sparkly as the snow did the day that Grandpa died. And of course the name popped into my head immediately. I had no intention of it having a double meaning, but of course Morning could be interpreted as Mourning. And also my Mom`s initials are JM.

So this polish, called January Morning, holds a special place in my heart.
And I am happy to share it with you.
This is one coat over white. It is intentionally sheer, so it can be layered over other colours as well.
January Morning is part of the newest Girly Bits collection,
and will be available for purchase for $6 as soon as the new bottles arrive.

Thanks for looking!

Lynnderella- One Nutty Fruitcake over Revlon Royal Cloak

Good day my beauties! I hope you are having a wonderful day. It is pouring rain here, but the blingtastic goodness on my nails makes me feel as though it were summer. I ordered my first Lynnderella's a few weeks ago, and this is the first one to be swatched. You can tell Lynn makes every bottle with a huge amount of thought and care. The proportions of the different glitters are absolutely perfect!
This is two coats of One Nutty Fruitcake over Revlon Royal Cloak.

Look at the teeny weeny sparkles in this! That is what makes it really stand out in my opinion

I am in love this this. You can purchase Lynnderella's from Llarowe
and I believe they will be available in December.

Thanks for looking!

Sinful Happy Ending

Since I am waiting on supplies to arrive, to begin bottling the next Girly Bits collection, I thought I would dig through the vault of swatches I  have. I came across Sinful, Happy Ending. I happen to love this colour. It's a beautiful vibrant green with a gorgeous shimmer.

Then I topped it with OPI It's all Bright with me, which is a very sheer, almost colourless yellow based polish with just a hint of shimmer.

And on top of that, I added China Glaze, Golden Enchantment.

Thanks for looking.
Check back for more swatches, and new Girly Bits collections as well.
Cheers!

Local launch of Girly Bits at Shoppers Drug Mart

Sometimes things just fall into place. Actually, often times they do. Having just released the first collection of Girly Bits a few weeks ago, I was thrilled to be invited by the local Shoppers Drug Mart to show the collection during the 'Look Good Feel Better' Gala SDM was hosting here in Kingsville Ontario.
The collection was well received on line, and I sold out of all the bottles I had pre-poured, and had to put a hold on shipping the new pours out so I would have some to take with me to the Gala. So, off I went to shoppers with my display, and promotional material and my polishes, simply thankful for the opportunity to display them, let alone sell them.
If you are not familiar with the Look Good Feel Better galas, they are designed to raise money for breast cancer awareness, and the idea of Look Good, Feel Better is, that if women with breast cancer can be helped to look good, they will feel better, and therefore brighten their spirits both mentally and physically and in turn be better armed to face the disease and fight it. Shoppers brings in makeup artists and skin care specialists and hair stylists offering makeovers and consultations by appointment. There are giveaways, and raffles and a percentage of certain sales goes to Breast Cancer research. I was honored to be invited to take part.

Here is what my display looked like.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Angela Labate at Thumbnails and Polish for designing my logo for me. I love it, and I couldn't have done it with out you!! ♥

I had a complete set of testers out for people to try, along with cotton and remover, and also a few bottles and swatches from the next collection. My daughter was also there helping me, and she was offering free nail art stamping.

I pre-packed a few bags with the entire collection in it, at a discount. Isn't the sticker that Angela designed for me, just the cutest?

This is my daughter Mackenzie, who was there to assist me, and offer free nail stamping.

Soon my oldest daughter Jen showed up to see how things were going, and they both proudly showed off the swatch sticks.

And here I am.

Some of the girls doing makeup, and Justin Bieber sporting a pink wig and serving up refreshments, in support of the cause.
He was really quiet that day.

A huge thank you to Jen, the cosmetics department manager, for inviting me!!

The view from my side of the table.

All packed up and ready to go home, at the end of a successful launch of Girly Bits.
I was very pleased with the response, and I enjoyed talking with everyone that day. I have a bag full of ballots for a draw to win the next collection, and people seemed genuinely interested in my little local business. I am pleased to be able to offer hand made items, that are created out of a true love of color and texture, and because of you, it is all worth while.

Till next time-Happy polishing and don't forget to moisturize!!

Thanks for looking!!
♥Pam♥

Girly Bits- Sea's the Day bottle shots

Happy Hump day everyone!! I can't believe it's Wednesday already! This week is flying by. I have been extremely busy here in the house of Girly Bits. I have almost completely sold out of every bottle I have poured so far, which is really exciting!! No worries though if you are still waiting for an invoice or shipping confirmation. I am pouring more, and I have ordered more supplies.

I have a very exciting event happening this weekend- the local launch of the first Girly Bits collection. I have been asked to set up a sales table at Shoppers Drug Mart this Saturday which is BEYOND exciting for me. So I am getting everything ready for that-pouring and labeling more bottles, getting promotional material printed, designing the merchandise table, printing ballots for a draw for the next GB collection (which will be out in time for Christmas) and having a blast doing it all.

Having said that, I am still taking orders for Sea's the Day but I am not processing or shipping anything until after the weekend.

Below are some bottle shots of the Sea's the Day collection, as I realized I have swatches but no bottle pictures.

For swatch pictures and ordering information please click here.

Thank you all for your continued support!!

Sailor's Delight, Stormy Skies, Razzle Dazzle, Purple Potion, Denim Diva, Street Magic.
