Indie Polish Makers

Good day!! Hopefully the sun is shining where ever you are!!

A few shout outs to two bloggers who first compiled this list.
I borrowed the list and added to it. I invite you to do the same.

  and

There is a storm in the Indie polish world right now, and gathering links in one place, means more pretties for all of us. I am slowly adding to my indie collection, and I treasure each and every one of them. In fact, I just painted a shelf to display them all. I will post pics when it is up.

On to the list. This is just a list of Indies that I know of. I am not endorsing them, nor have a tried most of them yet. If you know of some that are not on this list, please let me know and I will add them.

Thank you to Things I love at the moment for letting me use her pic above.

Whew!! Your wallet will not thank me. =)
In other news, I am in the process of setting up a new web site/store which will make ordering easier.
I will keep you updated as to when it will be stocked.

Cheers!!
♥Pam♥

Easter mani- Hippity Hop

Hello!! Gosh it's been a long time since I have managed an actual blog post! Today I am actually wearing a full mani, instead of the usual skittle fingers of swatches. I am so often in the polish lab, creating, testing and swatching, that it is next to impossible to wear a full mani for an entire day. However today, I was determined to wear Hippity Hop, for Easter.

This is Hippity Hop, over Essence colour and go, in A lovely Secret.

And just for fun, here is a pic of Into the Night, in the making.

Now that all the orders from the last sale have been shipped, (with the exception of a few stragglers that are on hold for the arrival of the glitter for Stormy Skies, and a few orders for which payment just came in) I am furiously mixing and bottling for the next sale. I had hoped to be able to have everything ready to go for the end of April, but as some of you may know, there is a back order on lacquer base, do that will likely be delayed for a week or two, depending on when my order arrives.

With a better understanding of the amount of orders that will come in during a sale, I have made a few changes in the way orders will  be handled.
For one thing, I am setting up a website, with a shopping cart so ordering will be easier for both you and I.
I will also have all of the product filled and ready to go, rather than trying to produce and ship at the same time. I will set up a simpler shipping cost structure, so that you will know exactly what your shipping will be, based on the number of bottles ordered. International orders may still have to be quoted for shipping.

When everything is set up and ready to go, I will post here with ordering info, and how to access the new store, as well as links to other sites that they will be available on.

Thank you all again, for your kindness, support and patience. This has been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to the next sale.

Cheers!!

Shipping update

Hello everyone. Just an update here re: orders and invoicing etc. I took this past weekend off from polish related business, as I had some family commitments, so I have not invoiced any more orders since Friday. I know that a lot of you are concerned as to whether your orders have been missed, or will not be filled etc. and I completely understand. So I want to update everyone on the process and status of shipping etc.

* Please do not worry that your order will not be filled. If you placed an order, and received a confirmation email and order number, your order will be filled. If for any reason, I get to the end of invoicing and shipping, (I will post when shipping is complete), and your order has been missed, or your invoice was sent to your spam folder, or you weren't home to receive your invoice or whatever, you can then email me, and I can process your order. I will be restocking, so there will be more product.

*If you have a situation where you NEED the order filled before a certain date because it is a gift etc, please email me and I will do my best to accommodate you.

*I am processing hundreds of orders myself, and I am extremely grateful, and thrilled that I have created a product that is well received. Something I have learned along the way is that I get faster and better at it, as I go. I also work a full time job, and have a family, and while I have brought in help to try and get through orders as quickly as possible, there are always hiccups as we learn the most efficient way to do this. This is why I do not collect any money until I can ship that order out. I am not complaining, just sharing the process so you feel informed.

*I have also made a commitment to not let this, or any part of either of my businesses take over my life. I have always taken time to do things I enjoy, and not feel guilty about it. I feel like doing things for me makes me a better mother and wife. Luckily for me, both my business ventures just happen to be in an area that I can also call a hobby. But learning to recognize where the hobby ends and the business begins, is key in keeping the harmony.

*Having said that-I have a vacation planned, with my family. It was a last minute vacation, that was booked after I announced the sale, and not knowing how many orders would come in, it is very difficult to know the time line for shipping. I will be invoicing and shipping until we leave, this Thursday, March 08th (returning March 19th). I apologize if this does not fall with in the schedule you are hoping to receive your order. I have a plan in place for tomorrow and Wednesday, to get out a large number of orders.

*I have had several people email me with concerns that I will be stressing out, trying to get orders out, and worrying about the business. I truly appreciate your concern. I absolutely will continue to take care of myself, and my family, while keeping business important, but not stress inducing. I am an observer, and a learner, in an ever changing world. I appreciate all of your kind words, support, advice, and understanding, as we continue to grow, and improve. I do hope that you will be with me during this process, but I also completely understand if it doesn't fit for you.

*Upon my return from vacation, I will be shipping out any orders that do not get shipped before we leave. I have lots of stock here, so there is no need to worry.

If you have any concerns or questions, please email me and I will do my best to answer them tonight.
I am off to do some more shipping for now.
Cheers!!

Calendar Girls - the newest Girly Bits collection, part 1

Calendar Girls Collection
by Girly Bits

January Morning - Promise Me - Magically Delicious - Hippity Hop

The concept is, that the full collection will have a colour that represents each month of the year. It will be released in 3 sets, with the next set available in April/May, and completing the collection with the last set being released in August/September. July will have two colours- one representing Canada Day ( July 1st) and one representing Independence Day ( July 4th).

 January Morning (January)
A sheer sparkly white, with flashes of pink and blue. Like freshly fallen snow. This one is inspired by my Dad. You can read the story behind this polish by clicking here.
Purchase of this polish comes with a copy of the story/memorial.

One coat of January Morning, over white.

 Promise Me (February)
Holographic and opalescent hex glitter, and pin point holo glitter, floating in a sparkling pink. Soft and feminine. This one is inspired by my oldest daughter, who is a singer. She is releasing her first album of originals soon, and one of the songs is called Promise Me.
Purchase of this polish comes with a copy of this song.

Three coats of Promise me, with no undies.

Magically Delicious (March)
Tiny green holographic glitter, in a clear base, along with gold squares, and gold hex glitter.
Representing the Luck of the Irish, and a Pot of Gold.

One coat of Magically Delicious, over China Glaze Jolly Holly.

 Hippity Hop (April)
Multi coloured pastel and holo glitter, and tiny purple glitter,  in a translucent sparkling  purple base.
It's like little holo Easter eggs.

Two coats of Hippity Hop, over various base colours, and three coats alone (at 3 o'clock)

Due to popular demand, Shift Happens will also be available, but it is not part of the Calendar Girls collection.

Thank you to Jen at The PolishAholic
for allowing me to use her swatch of Shift Happens, above.

All lacquer bases are B3Free, and are hand poured using glitters and pigments.
They are available in full size, 15ml bottles, as well as 5ml mini bottles. (mini bottles are not shown above, and do not have the new custom label, but rather the original label, with just the lacquer name.)
Both sizes come embellished with a Swarovski crystal.

Thank you all for your love and support.

SoFlaJo Review and swatches of Dragon Heart

Happy Tuesday, polish lovers of the land =) or Happy Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, or Day before Wednesday, or how ever you recognize today. Heck, it might even be your birthday, so if it is- Happy Birthday!

Today I have for you, some swatches and a review of  a new Indie line of polish called SoFlaJo. There are many terms floating around, that refers to hand poured nail polish- Indie, hand made, hand poured, home made, frankens,  they basically all refer to the same type of product. Indie, or hand poured is the term that I have been using, but really it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Sort of like how people use the terms soda, or soda pop, or pop, or even coke- to refer to canned or bottled beverages like coke, pepsi, 7-up or whatever.

Today's post features a relatively new member of the Indie community, SoFlaJo. Jody has released her first collection, called Year of the Dragon, with 8 sparkling, colour changing top coats, which can be applied over a variety of different base colours, for different effects.

Jody packages her polishes with all kinds of fun things. And a little ribbon around the top of the polish, in a colour that co-ordinates with the colour changing effect of that polish.

The hand written labels on the bottom, show the names of the colours.

The backside of the bottles, so you can see what the colours look like.

Here, I have applied one coat of Dragon Heart over OPI Get in the Espresso Lane, and a topcoat of SV.

It applies smoothly,  and easily.

I applied it fairly thick, because I really wanted the colour changing effect to show, but you could easily get away with a thinner application.

You can easily see the colour changing effect, as well as sparkles.

Dragon Heart would look fabulous over any dark colour. It gives the illusion of being a multichrome polish, with the added bonus of giving different looks over different bases.

You can visit Jody's shop by clicking here.
Her bottles are 5ml mini's, and are $5.00 each.
Shipping with in the US, is $2 for the first bottle, and 50 cents for each additional bottle.
International shipping is $3.00 for the first bottle, and 75 cents for each additional bottle.

Thank you for looking, and check back soon for announcements about the date and time for the next Girly Bits sale, featuring a new collection.
