Local launch of Girly Bits at Shoppers Drug Mart

Sometimes things just fall into place. Actually, often times they do. Having just released the first collection of Girly Bits a few weeks ago, I was thrilled to be invited by the local Shoppers Drug Mart to show the collection during the 'Look Good Feel Better' Gala SDM was hosting here in Kingsville Ontario.
The collection was well received on line, and I sold out of all the bottles I had pre-poured, and had to put a hold on shipping the new pours out so I would have some to take with me to the Gala. So, off I went to shoppers with my display, and promotional material and my polishes, simply thankful for the opportunity to display them, let alone sell them.
If you are not familiar with the Look Good Feel Better galas, they are designed to raise money for breast cancer awareness, and the idea of Look Good, Feel Better is, that if women with breast cancer can be helped to look good, they will feel better, and therefore brighten their spirits both mentally and physically and in turn be better armed to face the disease and fight it. Shoppers brings in makeup artists and skin care specialists and hair stylists offering makeovers and consultations by appointment. There are giveaways, and raffles and a percentage of certain sales goes to Breast Cancer research. I was honored to be invited to take part.

Here is what my display looked like.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Angela Labate at Thumbnails and Polish for designing my logo for me. I love it, and I couldn't have done it with out you!! ♥

I had a complete set of testers out for people to try, along with cotton and remover, and also a few bottles and swatches from the next collection. My daughter was also there helping me, and she was offering free nail art stamping.

I pre-packed a few bags with the entire collection in it, at a discount. Isn't the sticker that Angela designed for me, just the cutest?

This is my daughter Mackenzie, who was there to assist me, and offer free nail stamping.

Soon my oldest daughter Jen showed up to see how things were going, and they both proudly showed off the swatch sticks.

And here I am.

Some of the girls doing makeup, and Justin Bieber sporting a pink wig and serving up refreshments, in support of the cause.
He was really quiet that day.

A huge thank you to Jen, the cosmetics department manager, for inviting me!!

The view from my side of the table.

All packed up and ready to go home, at the end of a successful launch of Girly Bits.
I was very pleased with the response, and I enjoyed talking with everyone that day. I have a bag full of ballots for a draw to win the next collection, and people seemed genuinely interested in my little local business. I am pleased to be able to offer hand made items, that are created out of a true love of color and texture, and because of you, it is all worth while.

Till next time-Happy polishing and don't forget to moisturize!!

Thanks for looking!!
♥Pam♥

Girly Bits- Sea's the Day bottle shots

Happy Hump day everyone!! I can't believe it's Wednesday already! This week is flying by. I have been extremely busy here in the house of Girly Bits. I have almost completely sold out of every bottle I have poured so far, which is really exciting!! No worries though if you are still waiting for an invoice or shipping confirmation. I am pouring more, and I have ordered more supplies.

I have a very exciting event happening this weekend- the local launch of the first Girly Bits collection. I have been asked to set up a sales table at Shoppers Drug Mart this Saturday which is BEYOND exciting for me. So I am getting everything ready for that-pouring and labeling more bottles, getting promotional material printed, designing the merchandise table, printing ballots for a draw for the next GB collection (which will be out in time for Christmas) and having a blast doing it all.

Having said that, I am still taking orders for Sea's the Day but I am not processing or shipping anything until after the weekend.

Below are some bottle shots of the Sea's the Day collection, as I realized I have swatches but no bottle pictures.

For swatch pictures and ordering information please click here.

Thank you all for your continued support!!

Sailor's Delight, Stormy Skies, Razzle Dazzle, Purple Potion, Denim Diva, Street Magic.

Well there you have it. All the ladies lined up and ready to be taken to a new home.
Thanks for looking!

Kleancolor Golden Nightmare plus layering ideas

Well it's Monday again. When did Monday's start coming so quickly? I think Monday and Friday need to have a talk, and help each other out. Friday is always late, and Monday is always early.

We spent the weekend in Niagara Falls. It's an annual trip we take in memory of an Aunt of a friend of mine. Eight years ago Vicky wanted to go to Vegas, but she was unable to, due to her poor health. So she and a group of her friends and family went to Niagara Falls instead. Vicky passed away that following year, and now every year her friends and family go back to the Falls, for a memorial weekend dubbed Falls-a-Booza. They have picked up new Falls-a-Booza members along the way (us included- this is our 4th year), and occasionally we pick up a random person in the Falls who joins us on our Pub Crawl that year. We hit the Casino on Friday night, and play the Blazing 777's (Vicky's favourite) and on Saturday we start the pub crawl some time after noon, and have one (ok sometimes 2) drinks at each bar on our circuit, usually ending up at the Spicy Olive, and having shawarmas on the walk stumble back to our hotel room.  It's always a good time, with great people, and I think it's fantastic that they honour Vicky in this way. Cheers!

On to today's post- Since I have been on a green kick, I thought I would show you another recent green acquisition. Kleancolor Golden nightmare. It's a dark blackened green base with goulishly green/golden glitters in it, and perfect for this time of year.

Of course I had to try layering something over it because, well why not?
This is Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure over Golden Nightmare.
If you happened to miss out of the limited edition Hidden Treasure, Nubar 2010 is a dupe for it.
HT is a must have in my collection, as it prettifies just about anything.

Pretty awesome right? It adds to the whole Fall feel with the orange and green flakies. ♥

Kleancolor Golden Nightmare layered with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure on top.

This is another layering combo idea- Kleancolour chunky holo clover (which is neither chunky nor holo, but whatever)  over Golden nightmare. Again with some green and orange, but glitter this time rather than flakies. This is out side in the full sun, and that really brings out all the colours.

Joe Fresh Khaki and nail stamping

Hello lovelies!

I have another Joe Fresh to show you today. I just picked this one up, and I *think it's fairly new. I hadn't seen it before, but that doesn't mean anything. Sometimes I look with my eyes closed. Once again Joe Fresh has impressed me. I am never let down by these polishes. This one is a dusty med-light khaki green, and I just loooove colours like this.

Outside, full sun

Inside, no flash

I added a stamp in RBL recycle. Not quite the shade I was going for, but it'll do.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend everyone. I am going to Niagara Falls for the weekend.

Wet n Wild Sagreena the teenage witch

Just a quick post for you today. I have told myself I will get to bed on time tonight. *fingers crossed*
I am fighting a sinus thing, and we have plans this weekend so I want to be in tip top shape.

I finally picked up Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenage Witch a few weeks ago, and I am not sure why I waited so long! It's a gorgeous glowy green and who doesn't like that? I am a 'Purple Girl' at heart, but I love green, and I find it is just "Ahhhhhhh" for me. Relaxing and soothing.

On with the show.

Forgive me, but I did this swatch a few weeks ago when I picked it up, and I *think* I did three coats for this one. I have been up to my eyeballs in lacquer base and glitter-which is not entirely a bad thing to be, but it does cause some brain cells to malfunction on occasion. Or that could be the lack of sleep. Either way, this is a gorgeous green, that makes me smile.

Thanks for looking, and thank you all for your continued support in the launch of Girly Bits polishes.

China Glaze Tinsel Town

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I was furiously working away at getting all my Girly Bits polishes filled and labeled etc, and also working on creating a page with ordering information. So- take a gander up at the top of my blog and you will see...

**insert drum roll here**

Ta-Dah!!! A page dedicated to ordering info for the Girly Bits first release called Sea's the Day!!

Or access it by clicking here

Yay! I can finally say it is officially available. After much interest was generated from the previews I posted, and many emails asking when they would be available for sale, I can now say they are available and I am taking orders. All the pricing and ordering info is on the page which you can access by clicking the tab above named 'Ordering info for Girly Bits polishes'
I am very excited, and pleased at the response so far. I thank you all for your continued interest and support, and I assure you I will do my very best to fill all orders in a timely fashion. I am-at the moment- a one woman show doing this for the first time so while I don't anticipate any issues, if there are any unexpected delays I will be sure and let you know.

On to today's swatches.
This is China Glaze Tinsel Town. I picked it up a few weeks ago, along with a few other Christmas colors ( I haven't even processed the idea of Halloween yet!) It is a densely packed mix of small and medium silver-grey glitters in a blue tinted base that is for the most part clear, but still tinted blue. It applied well, and reminds me a little of granite. It's sparkly but not over the top in your face blingy. Totally appropriate for the holidays or New Years Eve, but it doesn't scream "oh look, I am a holiday polish!"

Outside, full sun

Outside, full sun

Inside, no flash. Due to the lighting and the pink walls in my salon, it looks like there are some bald spots, but that is just the reflection of the pink walls on the larger pieces of glitter. It is quite dense. I forget how many layers this is here, sorry. It is for sure not more than three.

Here I layered KleanColor Chunky Holo Fuchsia over it and it turned it a lovely purple.

Thanks for looking!!

Street Magic

Street Magic is the 6th and final colour in the Girly Bits first collection. It is a gorgeous color shifting polish that changes from gold to bronze to a beautiful emerald green, right before your eyes. Just like magic. It looks best layered over dark colours. These pictures are over black, but you can layer it over other colours for different effects.

This collection is now available for purchase. You can see the info on ordering and pricing by clicking the tab at the top of the page or by clicking here. You can also send me an email at pamsgirlybits@hotmail.com

This is Street Magic's bronze side.

Here it's shifting to the green

And here she is in full on green glory.
Of course pictures don't do it justice.

I hope you love my first collection as much as I do.
I will be creating a tab above with ordering info and pricing soon.

Thanks for looking!

Stormy Skies like this are welcome

It's the weekend!! And we are supposed to have great weather all weekend. It's been beautiful, and sunny, and warm, and it's a welcome change to the dreary days of rain we have been having. One day of a gentle rain and some thunder is nice, especially if you can curl up with a great book, and maybe even have a nap. But days and days of unrelenting rain can really put a damper on your plans. Don't get me wrong- I love thunderstorms. Just one storm at a time please.

But- these kind of stormy skies are always welcome. I bring you another Girly Bits polish, called Stormy Skies. It is a medium grey, that leans just slightly teal, and has a pretty microglitter that flashes gold or green.

This collection is now available for purchase. You can see the information on ordering and pricing by clicking the tab at the top of the page, or by clicking here. You can also email me at pamsgirlybits@hotmail.com

More Girly Bits join the party

Today I am very excited to show you a custom creation that is part of the Girly Bits first collection. I have posted this one before, but since it is now officially part of the first collection, here it is again.
I present to you Sailor's Delight.

While chatting with a fellow nail polish lover, she mentioned to me that she was looking for an orange-red, like the sunset. She wanted something that would represent the saying "Red sky at night, Sailor's delight; red sky in the morning, Sailor's take warning. I promptly hopped up, ran to my polish lab and threw some things together. What you see here in the result.
She was very pleased with it, and thrilled that I had managed to bring her idea to life. She named it, and Sailor's Delight is now a part of the first Girly Bits Collection which is now available.

You can access pricing and ordering information by clicking the tab at the top of the page or by clicking here
You can also send me an email at pamsgirlybits@hotmail.com

It is a beautiful red-orange with the most amazing micro-glitter. It applies very smoothly, and is just jelly enough to let the glitter show all it's sparkly goodness.

I am very excited for this project, as it has been a lot of fun creating, mixing, testing and showcasing my creations.

Till next time....

Thanks for looking
